![]() W JulietThe main story of W Juliet is the story of Amano Makoto and Miura Ito. Ito is a normal 16-year-old girl...except for the fact that she looks like a boy! Because of this, all the girls in school are like her "fangirls", and she's known as the leader of the girls. Enter Amano Makoto. Makoto is the beautiful new female transfer student who has just joined the Drama Club, which Ito is part of. Ito feels sorry for Makoto, who is immediately attacked by all the fangirls ("Wow, she's so pretty!" "Do you have a boyfriend?" "How come your skin is so white?" "Is that your real hair?" o.o) and she invites her over to her house, where Ito discovers by accident that Makoto is actually...A MAN!!! Dun dun dun! (^_^; Yeah, if you've read much manga you might have seen it coming, since most beautiful people in manga usually turn out to be men!) Makoto explains to Ito that the reason why he is crossdressing and living as a girl is because his father, who owns a dojo, wanted him to take over the dojo when he grew up (Makoto has three older sisters and he is the only son in his family). Makoto had other plans for his life though. He wanted to be an actor, but his father refused to let him. Then his father thought to break him through his manhood. He basically said to Makoto, "If you are such a great actor, and you truly believe you can make it, then I challenge you to live and go to school as a girl for the rest of your high school career (2 years). If no one finds out that you're really a man, I'll let you pursue your dream. But if even one person finds out your true gender, then you must give up your dream and take over the dojo." Makoto wanted his freedom and his dream so badly that he agreed. Ito was so moved by his story and so interested in Makoto that she decides to help him and so they become "partners", then later, boyfriend and girlfriend. And so, this is the premise for W Juliet! It's a story about Makoto and Ito trying to keep his gender a secret and trying to keep their relationship afloat too (cause both of them have admirers that are not happy about them being together, of course!). It's a shoujo story, yet a not-so-typical shoujo story! Special Thanks to: Ingmar from W Juliet for the information. © Copyright 1995 - 2002 TAP Productions.
